The St. Regis Bangkok stands out as a top luxury hotel in a city dominated by luxury hotels with truly caring staff, decedent food and drink offerings, and over the top opulence in every corner.

The travelers once again found themselves in the Thai capital, Bangkok, for a long weekend and knew they had to make the most of their short stay by taking advantage of one of the most luxurious offerings in the Marriott Bonvoy family. It proved to be an excellent decision from the very beginning.
There is no shortage of Marriott Bonvoy properties in Bangkok spread across the city including budget friendly Courtyard Marriott and Renaissance properties and upscale luxury brands like the JW Marriott and the newly opened Ritz-Carlton.

Location, Arrival, & Check-In
Located in upscale Ratchaprasong district, just down the road from the Grand Hyatt and Waldorf Astoria, this hidden oasis sits is a 35 minute drive from Bangkok’s main international airport without traffic. Arriving early in the morning, the travelers opted to take advantage of the hotel offered limousine service for a nominal fee. The drive was pleasant and included water, snacks, and wifi for the entire drive.
Like most city hotels, you’d be hard pressed to identify the building from the street. To many, it’s just another 44-floor, 228 guest room glass high rise in the middle of the city. However, it’s location across from The Royal Bangkok Sports Club makes it one of a short, exclusive list of hotels in Bangkok to look out over a wide open green space – a rarity in the otherwise chaotic city.
Upon arrival, the travelers were greeted by a bellhop who collected the items from the hotel provided Mercedes Benz and at least three times, greeted the travelers by name and escorted them to the hotel’s main area on the 12th floor. At check-in, the travelers were provided a scented cold towel and lemongrass tea immediately upon sitting in the check-in desk. Despite an early morning check-in, the room was ready and they were escorted to their 18th floor city view room. Unfortunately, since it was Valentine’s Day weekend, the property was at nearly full capacity and no upgrade was available.
By the time the check-in formalities were complete and the travelers made it to their room, their luggage was already in the room and their personal butler waited with an assortment of tropical fruits, offering the brand’s signature unpacking service.
Just a few minutes into their stay in this Bangkok oasis, the St. Regis’ unparalleled service was evident and would remain so for the the rest of the travelers’ stay.
Hotel Room
Despite being told that no upgrade was available, it appears that their status as Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite members was useful as the travelers were treated to a deluxe king room with city view – a one step upgrade from the room originally booked.
The room is very spacious, with a wardrobe-lined hallway when you enter with storage including space for luggage in the two full sized wardrobes. On the right is the open-plan bathroom with featured a number of sliding doors, giving guests as much (or as little) privacy as they need.
A little further into the room is the main part, with a very comfortable king bed. At the bedside table is a menu of luxury pillows – the companion pillow being a particular favorite of this traveler and several universal plugs next to the room controls on either side of the bed.
Opposite the bed is a 55 inch TV above a console table which features a stocked mini bar and fridge, as well as the Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, and an expansive mini-bar selection.
In the window was a spacious desk with two chairs and a small arm chair and ottoman for enjoying the views. A lovely welcome amenity of fresh fruit awaited the travelers, too.
The bathroom, while not overly spacious, was absolutely heavenly. Two sinks, fully stocked with amenities was across from the stand alone tub with custom St. Regis bath salts, which was next to a large all-glass shower with a large rain shower. Dark woods and beige leather underscored the bathroom throughout this luxurious room.
Towards the end of the trip, the traveler caught a stomach bug and was unable to make the next day’s flight. Upon extending the stay and informing the hotel staff, the traveler was immediately upgraded to the even more luxurious Caroline Astor Suite.

Upon entry into the suite was a small half bathroom and counter to put keys. Just past that the desk was on the left and the rest of the living room was straight ahead. In featured two generously sized arm chairs and a large, plush, four person sofa with a large coffee table in the middle. Across from the seating was a large TV and standard mini bar set-up. Also in the living room was a small four-person glass dining table which included another assortment of fruit and some mango tarts. The elegant welcome to the suite also included floor to ceiling windows with a good view of the city, similar to the one from the previous room.
Walking from the living room to the bedroom area, the bed was to the right and to the left, a large walk in closet. Again, large floor to ceiling windows adorned the suite, which included views of the The Royal Bangkok Sports Club across from the bed. The traveler’s companion pillow preference must have been noted as it awaited them upon arrival – a nice touch from the St. Regis team.
However, the star of the suite was the extremely spacious bathroom. Floor to ceiling glass windows brightened the white marble bathroom which featured a stand alone tub at the front. On the exteriors were two sinks, both featuring a vast assortment of amenities, and of course, a large rain shower and toilet room.
Every element of the Caroline Astor Suite is clearly designed to provide an extraordinary experience, high above the city of Bangkok. Its corner location offered panoramic views of the city and the parkland through its floor to ceiling windows and 115 square meter, residential-style retreat.
Club Lounge
The St. Regis does not have a club lounge, but still offers an exclusive experience for Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members and higher. Located at the St. Regis Bar from 5-10pm, two drinks and an assortment of Thai and Western snacks is offered. The travelers recommend the aptly named Titanium Elite cocktail. However, for all guests, each night around sunset at the St. Regis Bar’s outside seating area, the hotel offers an evening sabering which also includes a free glass of champagne. The picturesque evening offered an opportunity for guests to start their evenings in the Oriental City with a pop.

Amenities
Breakfast was included in the rate and due to the traveler’s status. Much like the rest of the hotel, the breakfast spread was over the top and thoroughly enjoyable. A mix of Western, Chinese, Thai, and Indian cuisine, no one could go hungry here. Supplementing the buffet are made to order a la carte items – mainly eggs and a noodle bar.
The majority of the hotel’s amenities are located on the 15th floor. Here, you’ll find an outdoor infinity pool, jacuzzi, gym, and spa.
The outdoor pool blended right into the surroundings with lush vegetation and provided a cool, luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of the city streets below. There are multuple chaise loungers by the pool and a large selection of couches under an overhang for those escaping the sweltering Bangkok sun. The hotel provides free water and sunscreen for guests at the entrance.
The hotel’s gym is well equipped with Technogym equipment, but was admittingly, not utilized by the travelers during their visits. However, the Thai boxing ring was a nice touch to the busy gym.
The hotel’s Clinique La Praire Spa offered a relaxing space for guests looking to get a massage or a complete wellness review. However, it was the gender-specific relaxation areas that truly won the hearts of the travelers. The bilevel relaxation areas featured multiple, floating loungers on the top with showers and changing space. Below, a hot-and-cold plunge pool, foot massage, hydrotherapy shower, and steam room oasis was hidden. The waterfall in the cold plunge pool was an added benefit, really emphasizing the relaxation of the room.
Conclusion
St. Regis hotels are known for their signature butler service and through them, and indeed throughout the hotel, no request or request went unanswered. The service throughout the stay was flawless. The staff were genuinely excited to be working at the St. Regis.
