A Review: The St. Regis Singapore

The St. Regis Singapore stands out as a top 5-star luxury hotel in a city known for its over the top luxury with opulent designs throughout, delicious food offerings, and unforgettable service.

3–5 minutes

In a return trip from the Maldives (see review of the Ritz-Carlton, Maldives here), the travelers once again found themselves in a long layover in Singapore. Aiming to take advantage of the nearby shopping, the St. Regis Singapore stood out as the best option for this stay.

For travelers looking to take advantage of Marriott Bonvoy properties in Singapore, there are more than a dozen options but in a city known for expensive hotels across the board, these travelers recommend considering a points redemption booking for hotels in Singapore.

Location, Arrival, & Check-In

Located at the end of Orchard Road, this hotels gives you the best of two worlds – the quietude of being in a residential neighborhood filled with luxury condos and proximity to the city’s main shopping district. Like all places in Singapore, getting around by car will take no more than 15 minutes to the major attractions with the Marina Bay Sands or Chinatown, so worry not.

The travelers arrived in the late evening and were greeted at the entrance by a bellman who kindly whisked away their luggage and were escorted to the lobby for check-in. During this particular stay, the hotel was completing renovations to the ground floor which made getting from the lobby to the elevators to access the room a bit of a maze, but thankfully it was not too much of a hassle.

With the construction going on to update the hotel, it’s unclear how many of the 299 Art-Deco influenced guest rooms and suites were offline but even with construction, the hotel’s design stunned.

Hotel Room

In a pleasantly surprising turn of events, the traveler’s nightly upgrade award was accepted at the travelers were upgraded to a Specialty Suite on the penultimate floor with sweeping views of the nearby botanical garden and the busy street below. The room’s renovation was completed just days before and the traveler was the first to stay in it. Little did the travelers know that this suite would become their oasis of luxury and calm in the middle of a busy Asian city.

The traveler’s butler escorted them to the room and, characteristic of all St. Regis properties, a hot beverage service was offered to which the traveler’s gleefully accepted a hot chocolate and cookie service. A drink menu was provided and instructions on accessing the 24/7 complementary concierge service was given before the travelers were left to explore their suite.

Everything about the room was over the top – from the floor to ceiling windows that encased the living room to the large king sized bed and completely marble bathroom that connected the two rooms.

It’s clear that during the renovation, no expense was spared to make sure guests felt like royalty in this massive suite. Modern control panels flanked both sides of the bed that controlled the lights, curtains, and blackout shades and a full Bose surround system was installed with easy use.

Club Lounge

The St. Regis does not have a club lounge, but still offers an exclusive experience for Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members and higher. Located at the Astor Bar on the ground floor, drinks and canapés are offered from 5-8 each evening. The dark atmosphere of the newly renovated bar matches with the theme of the hotel.

Amenities

Breakfast was included in the rate and due to the traveler’s status. Much like the rest of the hotel, the breakfast spread was over the top and thoroughly enjoyable. A nice spread of meats, cheeses, fruits, and juices – with an ala carte menu to order eggs and other breakfast items. The travelers opted for the lobster and caviar omelet – which is just as rich as it sounds.

Rated as one of, if not the best spa in Singapore, a clear highlight of this hotel is the decadent St. Regis Spa. In addition to the stellar massage services, which are notably expensive, even for Singapore, a centerpiece of the center is the complementary wet lounge. In the center is a pool with water pouring out of the ceiling and facilities such as cedarwood Finnish saunas and eucalyptus-scented steam rooms.

Conclusion

Even for a short overnight stay, the St. Regis Singapore shone as one of the best hotels in the country. The luxury and opulence of the hotel’s rooms, spas, and lounges are matched by the incredible butler service. The bottom line: if you’re looking for unparalleled luxury, look no further.
