Location, Arrival, & Check-In
Despite being located just 20 minutes away from the airport, the travelers were reminded why it’s important to secure hotel-provided transportation. Taxis required cash and had high fares, likely due to the limited other options found on Phuket. However, the hectic arrival to the hotel was immediately forgotten when arriving on property.
Located on the Mai Khao beach, one of Phuket’s most pristine and clean beaches, this property is located on expansive grounds that feature a turtle sanctuary, two pools, several eateries, and over 240 rooms, suites, and villas. As part of the arrival procedures, these Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite travelers were escorted around the property for a quick tour before being escorted to their room.
Hotel Room
Unfortunately during this visit, the hotel was 100% occupancy so no upgrade was available. Still, the standard rooms are spacious. They are designed using traditional Thai style which means lots of wood, colorful fabrics, and carved furniture. The bathrooms are spacious and include both a standalone tub and a separate shower and toilet area.
Upon entering, a large wardrobe area greets travelers and just pass, a large king sized bed can be found. Across from the bed is an extra-large TV on a small dresser and a desk area.
One of the highlights of these rooms is the spacious balcony overlooking either the pool, ocean, or gardens and a Japanese tea seating nook, perfect for staring at the view while enjoying the room’s extra strong air conditioning.
Club Lounge
There is no club lounge at the property. However, elite members are provided several benefits depending on their level which may include free beverages at the hotel’s bar, foot massage top-offs at the spa, and free breakfast. In addition, several snacks and beverages are offered in-room.
Amenities
Several of the rooms on the ground level have direct access to a shared lagoon-style pool in addition to the two large swimming pools on property – one adults only and a shared kids pool. The hotel also features extensive water-sport options including kayaks and catamarans in addition to a tennis court, turtle sanctuary, gym, and large spa.
Of course, a highlight of this property is the gorgeous Mai khao beach, which brings thousands of travelers to Phuket each year.
Conclusion
Despite being ill and remaining in the room for most of the stay, this hotel offered the perfect mix of relaxation and activity for travelers looking to stay in Phuket but avoid the crowded areas and traffic often associated with the island.
