Location, Arrival, & Check-In
The Sydney Harbour Marriott is located adjacent to Circular Quay, and is very conveniently located for exploring central Sydney. It is near access points for all major local transport links include ferries for exploring Greater Sydney, buses for traveling around the city, and trains for inter-country travel. It’s also a short five-minute walk from the train stop to the hotel’s doors.
This traveler arrived at the property in the early afternoon after a nearly 3 hour delay in Singapore, and despite a large cruise shop group also checking in, the dedicated Marriott Bonvoy Elites line ensured the check-in process was quick. Thankfully, the traveler’s five suite night upgrades were accepted in advance of the trip and the upgraded Opera House View King Spa Suite was ready upon check-in.
Hotel Room
The Opera House View Suite is comprised of a living area, bedroom, and an ensuite bathroom. As you pass through the main entrance door, you enter a hallway with a cabinet complete with water and a kettle. You then make your way to the main living area with Opera House views. Unfortunately for this traveler, the opera house was actually just its reflection on a nearby building. But, the room included wonderful views of the Harbour Bridge, which was still stunning.
In the bedroom, a king-sized bed the center of the room but there is also a large closet and space for two suitcase racks. The room also features a large TV with an impressive sound system. The bathroom leads to a large room with a, as the room name suggests, a jet tub spa with enough space for two plus a shower and a spacious sink area for two guests.
Club Lounge
The Executive Lounge is located on the second floor and is open daily from 6am to midnight. Despite access to the lounge being restricted to guests with rooms booked at the Club Lounge levels and Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elites are higher, the lounge was packed at most hours of the day. Still, the food offerings, drinks, and snacks were tasty and the lounge was well maintained. The space has several different types of seating including restaurant and sofa seating. For Platinum Elite members above, this is also where a buffet breakfast is served. Those wanting the full buffet experience could pay a small fee to upgrade their morning meal.
Amenities
Unfortunately, this traveler spent most of the time out of the hotel exploring Sydney, and was not able to access the hotel’s amenities other amenities. However, there appeared to be three dining venues and a small gym/pool area.
Conclusion
This hotel is an excellent option in the heart of Sydney for those looking to explore the city while also enjoying the comfort of a Marriott Bonvoy hotel.
